Wolves vs. Cardiff (2:2)

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I can’t help feeling that Wolves should have won.  Wolves faded slightly after a first half of squandered opportunities but at leaset I can enjoy the long drive to Molineux next week with a fair degree of hope for the rest of the season.  Whatever the result, after recent games, and Burnley last week in particular, it’s actually reassuring to at least be able to talk about the disappointment of a good performance wasted.  And to think fondly that Reading and Birmingham both seem to be struggling almost as much as us.  Top of the league still!

Cardiff vs. Wolves (1-2)

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

A busy start from Wolves meant they were 2-0 up after 8 minutes, and both Iwelumo and Ebanks-Blake took their season’s goal tally into double figures.  After that, frankly, although Wolves looked competent, they were under a deal of pressure, and it was too much to expect that we could go a game without conceeding.  However, apart from the complete lack of marking for the goal, it was good to see the defence considerably tighter than in recent outings. Mancienne is looking like a very good addition to the squad.

All the 2-1 wins this season have been hard-fought affairs, and this was no exception.  The fact that we’ve come out the winners every time shows definite progress from last year.  This is a game we would have lost in past seasons.

Cardiff vs. Wolves (4-0)

The less said the better.  An unfortunate sending off for Gary Breen started Wolves off badly, but can’t quite be blamed for conceeding four.
