STOP PRESS. Glen Hoddle has resigned. Wasn’t expecting that at all at this stage. It seems like he’s as frustrated as everyone else by the lack of ambition at the club, but time will tell if he’s just got something better in mind. It’s not a good time to be looking for a new manager so unexpectedly, but could work out for the best in the long run. Is there any possibility that Hoddle leaving has anything to do with the failure of the club to produce a scarf with his face knitted in it (see ‘The Dave Jones Wonder-Scarf‘ post June 2006)? Whatever the case, this is definitely a chance missed.
