Browsing the condiments aisle at Sainsbury’s yesterday, I was very excited – not to say startled – to notice nestling amongst other, less prestigious brands “Barry Norman Pickled Onions”. How, you may ask, did this particular celebrity endorsement come about? I certainly did! Who, wishing to shift more onions, crossed celebs off the list until arriving at this particular pairing? Needing to know more, I instinctively turned to Google. In transpires that this is not your usual cash in, but that the opportunity came about through a combination of Norman’s pickling talent and his friendship with a marketing executive, who also happens to be “very possibly the world’s leading aficionado of pickled onions.” There’s more, but the story is better told by the man himself – for which I can only refer you to Norman’s own site; the brilliantly named Pickleodeon. Good luck to him!

These onions have a great taste!
But why do they use soft onions. I have complained to the manufacturers and told them that over 30 t0 80% are soft. These should be crisp as well as full of flavour.
So far, I have been ignored in my complaint. Therefore if they decide not to rectify the problem, I will not be buying any more, and will log on to any site to complain.
Have tried to contact Mr Norman but without success, surely he would like to know if his name is being sbused?
Thanks for the comment Will, although in fairness to Mr Norman, I personally have experienced no dissatisfaction with the crispness of the onions. Probably Wolfie’s experience the world differently.
