Goodbye to Golden Boots

It is with dry eyes, but maybe a little regret for the past, that Wolves bid goodbye to Leon Clarke (pictured right), who moves to Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee having been transfer listed by the club earlier in the week.  His latent talent has been recognised and trumpeted by successive managers, but has ever really been apparent on the field of play, even taking account a brief spell early in the season where Leon successfully found the back of the net several times.

So, it’s goodbye to Leon, who has had an ambivalent at best relationship with the fans, and let’s hope he can make a better impression on his new team.  As befits a scorer of no less than five goals, and indeed our top goalscorer this season (although centre half Craddock, who has been out for several games now is biting at his heels with four goals), I leave you with an image of those much heralded Golden Boots.  In fact, as a tip, wearing some nice ordinary black boots until people know that you know what to do with them might be the best way to get off to a good start in pastures new.
