Wolfie closeupWelcome to the Wolfie blog.

This is where I tell you what's on my mind.

Spending much of my day in bed, I have time to really think through some of the big issues of our day.  I like to think of myself as a Very Thoughtful Wolfie.

I hope that you are able to take something with you into your day-to-day life from the thoughts I share with you here.

Read my thoughts about the big issues of the day here, or see my match reports (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC).  And I'm always happy to hear what you think.

Dear Ant 'n' Dec,

I haven't yet had a reply to my offer to appear in 'I'm a celebrity...'.  Perhaps your letter has been lost in the post? I have heard that this can happen.  Please do resend.  My diary is filling up fast.

Yours,

Wolfie

So, as I may have mentioned before: No football.  This has given me many wonderful opportunities to branch out and improve myself.  I've been spending some quality time with my computer and have stumbled upon the rather amusing/alarming StuffOnMyCat.com.  You will find such categories as 'Food on my cat' and 'Housewares on my cat'.  Need I say more.  In fact, you were probably so excited just by the title of the website that you aren't even bothering to read the rest of this post.  So you will, in fact, never know about the deep and pervasive sense of melancholy that can sometimes haunt a Wolfe's life.  The tears of a clown etc.  Still, nothing that a good stint sitting on a cat couldn't cure.

Comment by: Chrissie, on 6/16/2008 8:27:42 AM

That 'Stuff on My Cat' site is a good one if you like cats. Do you, Wolfie? Do you have any cat friends? Do you have any pictures of them?

Comment by: WorldWideWolfie, on 6/18/2008 7:35:48 PM

Well, I don't, as such, 'have' cats. I do house share with a couple though. We're good friends although they aren't my intellectual equals. To prove it, I do have some nice pictures further down the page (26th October 2006), including one of them licking me. I am considering submitting my own shot to 'Stuff on my Cat'. Watch this space...

To celebrate the arrival of my new business cards - pictured - which finally announce my celebrity status to the world, I have decided the time is right to stake my claim for a place on TVs greatest chWorld Wide Wolfie - Celebrity and International Animal of Mysteryallenge (outside of 'Deal or No Deal'): 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here'.  So I've decided to write to AntnDec:

6th June 2008

Dear Ant 'n' Dec,

I hope you don't mind my writing but I would like to put myself forward for a role in the next series of 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here'.  I love the show and am a celebrity, so this would be perfect.  For confirmation of my celebrity status, please see the enclosed business cards and my website WorldWideWolfie.co.uk.

I am only 15 inches tall and don't have any muscles so would find competing in some of the tasks difficult, and I certainly wouldn't want to be eaten as part of one of your nasty challenges, but I hope you would agree that this could be a mutually advantageous partnership with a celebrity such as myself.  We might even become friends.  Please do say yes.  I've never been to Australia and feel my personal development would benefit from communion with other celebrities.

Lots of love,

Wolfie

P.S. I know you are both Geordie lads, but I am sure you will take my occasional baiting of Monty Magpie, Toon mascot, as chronicled on my website, in the spirit of jest in which it was intended.  You will be pleased to note that Monty has actually recently had a starring role as my sidekick in the comic strip episode 'Bat Wolfie at the Old Glue Factory'.

P.P.S.  Please note, I have enclosed two business cards so you are not required to share.  I expect less considerate people sometimes don't think of this.

I wish you'd been on 'I'm a Celebrity' when I was. You'd have been better company. How can Ant and Dec refuse?

Tony. While I welcome the opportunity to meet like-minded celebrities, I doubt you are the man himself.

It's a bank holiday, and it's raining. Stay in an enjoy this lovely little number from the vegetales people.  Old, but good.

Just 'enjoying' Eurovision.  Little concerned that Wogan may end it all after the UK's 'disappointment'. Really, if you were listening, our Tone's tone was beyond downbeat.  Euro-apocalypse, here we come!

My ranting stage is over and I'm now looking forward to the start of the next season.  To amuse myself until that time, I have enlisted the help of some old friends to put together a little story.  Click on the thumbnail to the right to read the thrilling tale of how Bat-Wolfie and Magpie saved the day (and then are saved in turn by the rather scary looking Wendy).

Please note that no animals of any kind were harmed in the telling of this tale.

Comment by: Robin, on 5/26/2008 4:10:15 PM

Hey Bat Wolfie, like your comic it rocks, i think bat-wolfie deserves his own page just for his efforts.

Comment by: WorldWideWolfie, on 5/30/2008 7:59:04 PM

Thanks for your appreciation. I will talk to Bat Wolfie, but, as you will imagine, he is often busy fighting crime etc. Also I once gave Wendy her own web page, and what did she do? Nothing.

Now that the football season is officially over (as far as I'm concerned), I will be finding other entertainments to distract myself and you over the coming months, but old habits die hard.  So I notice today the barely surprising news that Freddy Eastwood has been transfer-listed by Wolves has been announced.  But, I hear you clamour, what do YOU make of it all, Wolfie?

Well, since you ask; the McCarthy/Eastwood debacle has been a major and unnecessary distraction this season and, because McCarthy is staying, I support Eastwood going, while wishing him the very best of luck at another club.

I am, however very disappointed by this decision, especially when Wolves still need a natural goalscorer to partner Ebanks-Blake - Keogh just misses too many to trust as a striker. Some fine young players have come in and made a impact at the club in the past two seasons - for which Mick deserves credit - but he also deserves some blame for the fact that Eastwood wasn't among them.  Eastwood did not prove himself at Wolves, maybe he never would have done, but enough doubt remains to stoke some reasonable resentment.  Average Mick's stubbornness in not giving Eastwood a decent run in the team which so desperately needed goals needs to be exorcised, but the ghost of Freddy is likely to haunt the outskirts of Molineux for a little while yet.  This move will see McCarthy on final warning with many of the even moderate fans.   If next season is a roaring success, McCarthy will get away with it, but the first sign of trouble is likely to dredge this up again.  Maybe Eastwood behaved badly, probably we'll never know, but McCarthy owed Wolves more than his pride and Stephen Elliot allowed.

Comment by: WolvesFan, on 5/25/2008 10:59:25 AM

I'm gutted about Eastwood going. He could have been a hero for us. Hope we at least get back the money he's worth.

Yes. But I'm getting over it! Roll on next season...

Well, here's a turn up for the books - WorldWideWolfie has gone missing!  Fear not though, for Bat-Wolfie is here to ramble instead.  All together now... Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Bat-Wolfie.  As you'll allTo the Batmobile, Wolfie be aware, it was the last day of the season today, but we're all still stroppy about that so just read about it here, alright.

As I've mentioned, this outfit was kindly provided by Wolfie's own costumier 'Build-a-Bear Workshop'.  The only drawback was the interrogation we all had from the five-year old child in the shop about exactly what the purpose of the outfit was.  Like a terrier with a bone - people of Dudley, please learn - sometimes people just don't want to go into details.

I'm sure the real Wolfie will be back soon.  In the meantime, they'll never find out Bat-Wolfie's true identity.  Mwah ha ha.

Just back from Berlin.  It was an interesting place and certainly a lot of history packed into one place.  I did find it a bit difficult with getting the usual holiday snaps done though due to the slightly higher than average chance of being accidentally snapped in front of some monument or other to people who had been murdered.  So you will not be seeing the picture of me inside the cute looking grey bus.  That aside, I had a very enjoyable time - pictures to follow.

In other news, I'm pleased to report that the 'Build-a-Bear' Workshop have kindly offered to give me some assistance in finding a suitable outfit for the end of the season.  I can't wait.  But today it's a crucial game against Ipswich, so I'm off to prepare.

Are you at today's match against Plymouth?tise your site at matches? My son, Dan is always looking out for you. Could you advertise your site at games? Dan would like your autograph.

Hi Dan and Frank, yes I was at the game but a bit nervous and hiding behind my seat most of the game - front of Steve Bull upper, but do tend to move round for different games. I've added a couple of pictures now.

It being a Saturday, and Wolves being out of action due to Cardiff's FA Cup game, I have a little time on my hands.  So I've been thinking ... Important as my football kit is to me, I want to be able to create a bit of the stir at the end of the season, so I've been trying to get a pirate outfit. Being unemployed, and also a big celebrity, I thought I would contact my costumier:

"Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are well.  Please let me introduce myself.  My name is World Wide Wolfie.  I have a website of my own and am something of a celebrity.  You can see my website at
www.worldwidewolfie.co.uk.  I am writing to you with an exciting sponsorship opportunity.

I currently only have two sets of clothes, and almost always wear my Wolverhampton Wanderers FC kit, but I think I need to branch out.  I do have a Santa outfit which I bought in your store.  I am delighted with it and it fits me perfectly.  You can see a picture of me at
http://www.worldwidewolfie.co.uk/images/big/travels_ski07fall.jpg.  However, this outfit is, of course, of a seasonal nature, so you will understand that I can't wear it all the time.  I am looking for new outfit to wear to the last game of the season (4th May, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton) and I wondered if you could provide me with one.  I would also certainly wear it to the play off finals were we lucky enough to get there.  I am looking for, in order of preference:

1) a pirate outfit
2) a Robin Hood outfit
3) something else swashbuckling

I have been unable to find anything suitable on your website, although I believe you used to sell a pirate outfit.  I have thought of buying one on ebay (in fact, I have seen one with a parrot on the shoulder, which was very exciting.   A parrot!) but I thought I would approach you with this opportunity.  Being involved in football, I am aware of many possible locations for sponsorship on my body, and would be very happy it you wanted to provide a sponsorship message.  I would suggest either chest, back of neck or bottom.  I would of course also big you up on my website.

My measurements are:
Chest: 13 ins (circumference)
Inside leg: 2.5 ins
Arm 2 ins

Please do contact me if you want to know any more about me.  My postal address is...

Yours faithfully,
Wolfie
"

I'll let you know how I get on.  I do hope they reply.

Great-great-GrandWendy was searching through her chest the other day and came across this souvenir programme for the 1953-54 season, reviewing all the games of that league-topping year.  I think I shall dip into it further next season, but did you know that on this day in 1954 Wolves drew one all with Bolton Wanderers.  Those were the days!

P.S.  My eyes may look like they're not looking at the programme in this picture, but that is because I'm thinking very hard.

Been on hols and celebrity engagements a bit, but I'll be back with more musings soon.  Also off to Norfolk to taunt that Newcastle bird - and there's a serious amount to taunt about, so should be fun.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope everyone had a happy Valentine's.  And thank you to all those admirers who sent me lovely cards this year.  It does remind me (as if I needed it) what a dashingly handsome beast I am.

Well, just bought myself a ticket for Selhurst Park next Saturday.  This cost £30 (+ of course the ridiculous £1 booking fee because Wolves prefer to be 'transparent' about their charges - I laugh) which is really quite a lot of money. Having been to Molineux last week to watch the Stoke fiasco which played out in much the same way as too many of the games this season, I'm not sure this offers me good value for money, but my brain is cotton wool, which might explain a lot.

Aside from the moaning, I've been on hols a bit, so check out My Travels.

Hello everyone.  How've you been?  Just a quick announcement that I've foolishly given over a page of my site to Wendy for her ramblings.  I must say, she's not as good as me, but is doing ok for a non-celebrity genius.  Check it out here - I won't say too much, but I reckon you'll enjoy it whether or not you like Neighbours!

1st January 2008Santa Wolfie
Happy Christmas etc.  A new year, everything else pretty similar to before (well, the football continues to be low class, anyway).

I've been away for a while so have a lot to tell you.  So, ok, first of all, as you can see, I've been getting into the Christmas spirit and branching out in choice of costume - don't worry though, I kept the footie kit on underneath, so cannot accept responsibility for Wolves' distinctly below par festive performance.  I was at Norwich (report and pictures to follow), and apparently that was distinctly good compared to other games, so wasn't sorry to miss the rest of the dross.

Also on a seasonal theme, I was delighted (I think) to receive a Wolves charity calendar for Christmas (the one with (tasteful?) pictures of scantily-clad players, but then somewhat disappointed to find out that Mr January - Olofinjana - is absent, leaving me with the choice of either waiting another month before I start marking down my hectic schedule of appointments or looking at Jody Craddock topless for two months running.  A dilemma.

Hello everyone.  I've been busy, and have various exciting plans for the website in new year.  Watch out for the exciting new 'Neighbours Blog'.  In slightly Neighbours related news, I was sorry to see this week that Jim Robinson (aka Alan Dale) suffered his third fictionalised heart attack, collapsing in Ugly Betty last week. He gets better every time.  Helen coming back to find him lying on the kitchen floor provided a seminal moment in Neighbours history; the highly dramatic collapse into the pool in the O.C. was a piece of polished chest-clutching; and this final fall provided a moment of comedy genius.  Is at least a heart murmur written into his contract now?  Any other sightings I have overlooked to the usual address.

Ahead of the big derby game tomorrow (I'm all excited, and I'll be wearing my shirt all night), I thought I'd revive a bit of Wolfie folklore.  We Wolfies talk about this one amongst ourselves all the time.  Because we're well 'ard:

28th October 2007

Fresh from the disappointment of Ipswich (which, believe me, is disappointing on so many levels), I paid a visit to my old pal Monty Magpie.  Regular readers may have seen that we've had our diWolfie and Monty lark aboutfferences in the past (he started it!), but I'm pleased to report that we've kissed (actually, hugged in a very manly way) and made up.  You can see the evidence here for yourselves as we both pretend to be winners.  Apparently Big Sam was disappointed that Newcastle couldn't even achieve his lofty ambition of a scoreless draw with the mighty Reading.  The less said abut Wolves the better, although I have managed to say something in my match report.

22nd September 2007
Here I am, back fresh from my travels to my spiritual home (Wolverhampton), having seen Wolves thump a dismal Norwich side, and from what I suspect is more likely to be my real home (China - don't tell anyone, but I have a label)Read all my review of the football here, and see my holiday snaps here.
Wolfie goes all arty in Sheffield
29th August 2007

A belated welcome to the new football season.  But no one panic, I've definitely been watching.  And I've also been on various jaunts around the country.  Here you can see me going all arty and downright cool at Hillsborough, filling the hours after I foolishly arrive early for a delayed kick off.

Aside from the football, I've been thoroughly enjoying Josh Ritter's new album.  It's amazing, and I recommend you all to check out one of his new songs: To the Dogs or Whoever.

6th August 2007
IWolfie shows who the real tough guy is'm just back from a little jaunt to the Norfolk Broads (see a few of my snaps in My Travels).  I will admit that a little disappointment in Wolves loss to Reading in their final preseason friendly, combined with a little exuberance before the start of the new season, both played a part in the 'incident' you can see pictured here.  But mainly, this bird deserved a lesson having tried to humiliate me online.  Let it be noted who struck the first blow (and also, of course, that I'm the clear winner in any encounter with that puny bird, or indeed his team).

(no toys were harmed in the filming of this story)

As I'm sure you will have noticed, with some regret, I've been on a bit of a summer sabbatical.  Rest assured, though, I haven't forgotten about you or Wolves, and will be back ready for the new season, and reporting from far flung places as I take advantage of the fact that it's finally stopped raining.  Hurrah.

15th July 2007
Long time no see, people.  As you can imagine, I've been taking a well earned break while it's off-season.  The more eager among you will have noticed that a while ago I updated My Travels with some nice pictures of relaxing in Spain, and now pre-season has officially started, I also have my first football report to bring you, having made the trip to Grays (pictured here).  Check out the Football pages to discover that not that much happened.

29th May 2007
The Play Offs are over and we now know who will be playing in which league next year.  Time for us all to spare a thought for poor West Brom, who lost 1:0 to Derby yesterday.  The play off final is the worst place to lose and part of me has to feel sorry for all the fans who travelled to see their team lose.  No sympathy for 'the best team of players outside the Premiership', though.  Having shown no magnanimity to Wolves in victory or defeat this year (mainly victory, yes), I'm glad to see the wheels finally fall off this particular wagon.  Time to sit back in the sun and watch the rats scurry away from the sinking ship.

21st May 2007
I'I never liked Graeme Souness anyway T-shirtt's a big news day today.  Not only has Wolves finally left the ownership of Sir Jack, and the flame passed onto Steve Morgan, a Liverpool fan, but a rich one.  He has twice failed to take over his hometown club, but apparently he is the man to take Wolves forward, and it's hard to disagree that £30 million, invested well, will make a difference, especially in the current climate when every club seems to need a sugar daddy to get on in the world.   Thank you to Sir Jack - we wouldn't be here without him, but there's no doubting it's time to move on, and, characteristically, he's done that in a way he believes is in the best interests of the club - let's hope that he's right.  I won't go on, because you can read all about the details on the official Wolves site.

And, back to me.  Still nursing the emotional wounds of play-off defeat and trying to find ways of filling the gap until next season starts (lucky I'm such a multi-faceted Wolfie) I am launching my next exciting online venture - WolfieTat.co.uk

So If you've ever wanted to own your own Wolfie-related merchandise, now is your chance.  We have the customisable 'I was there when...[please insert own evidence of loyalty]'.  Nobody try completing that with '...Frankowski scored', however, because we'll know you're lying.  In fact, I've done my own, with 'I was there when Wolfie scored', with a lovely picture of me and Wendy.  Ain't I a cheeky one.  Anyway, there's lots more, so take a browse - www.WolfieTat.co.uk.  And remember, I'm the new black.  Wear me.

8th April 2007
If you haven't ever checked out the BBC 'Clockwatch' live updates, I really recommend you do.  If you think I tend to wander off the point, check out these edited highlights of Saturday's Manchester derby.  There was really some mention of football, but believe me, not that much.  Did a fine job of convincing all those non-subscribers to Sky not to bother:

1436: FULL-TIME Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United
Thank goodness that's all over.

1426: Ryan Giggs grapples with Darius Vassell and is booked. After that flurry of excitement it is back to the same old script of scrappy football.

1410: Has Sir Alex Ferguson been hitting a bottle of hair dye? He seems to have more of a brownish hue to his bonce than in the past. Grey down the sides, but darker on top.

1403: Perhaps City actually want this scoring record. Imagine being a season ticket holder. Just 10 goals all season. That's a goal every 162 minutes on average.

·  You can watch this dross on Match of the Day tonight. Best go and make the tea after catching the Michael Ball stamp and the penalty so you can get back on the sofa in time for the start of the next match in the running order.

1359: Alan Green's on good form this morning, ranting at a spectator who has invaded the pitch. Now he can't believe people are laughing at the "clot".

1357: More from Alan Green who is comparing this rubbish to 'Strictly Dancing on Ice' - although he still prefers these "10 woeful minutes"... just.

1354: Derby matches are supposed to be passionate affairs but this match really is poor, or "drab" in Chris Waddle's verdict. You can measure the lack of action by the fact Five Live commentator Alan Green's wittering on about the number of throw-ins and how disgraceful that second-minute Michael Ball stamp was.

1319: GOAL Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United
Delight for United fans and Cristiano Ronaldo.

1312: The pitch looks good, and so does Stuart Pearce. The City boss has discarded the tracksuit in favour of a pastel blue shirt, smart tie and well-pressed trousers.

1304: The pitch is the best thing about this game so far.

1247: The pitch is mesmerising. It looks like a cross between Lord's and the green baize on show at the Crucible. It is in a nice chequered pattern as well. Top work from the groundsmen.

Thanks to the bbc for that one.  Check it out one week.

27th April 2007
Hey all.  Well, it's been a while.  Unfortunately (for you, my loyal fans, anyway) I've been busy gallivanting off on my travels and have therefore been unable to update recently.  I've been in New York, anbored at ball gamed you can read a little bit more about my experiences in 'my travels'.  As you can see from this snapshot I managed to take in a game (Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians, as it happens).  As you will also see from the image I needed to find other ways to amuse myself.  Now, I play baseball on my Wii console and I thought I wasn't very good because I often miss the ball completely.  Actually, it seems I could have what it takes to play major league.  By about the halfway point (I stopped looking after that), the score stood at 1 run each and 1 hit each (let's be clear, that means there was one time per team in 5 innings when a player had successfully hit a legal ball and didn't got out!).  Were it not for the enforced standing to sing along to God Bless America (really) I might have drifted off completely.  To be fair, there was a flurry of activity towards the end, but really, it's nearly as bad as cricket!

And don't worry, I'm not forgetting my football.  I wasn't able to watch the Birmingham game on tv, but I did listen in on the radio.  Here's to a similar performance and a better result tomorrow.

8th April 2007
Dear Reader, I've been thinking.  Like many football fans I have a few little rituals on a match day that I know are 'lucky'.  I have a lucky scarf; I always get out of bed by midday (as you know, my natural habitat is under a duvet so some days I don't get up at all otherwise); and of course I always wear my lucky Wolves kit (ok, so I ALWAYS wear my Wolves kit, but that's not the point).  The thing is, sometimes this is lucky and Wolves win, but sometimes Wolves still lose.  But I know that I have to do this or Wolves will lose and it will be my fault.  Why doesn't it always work?  Answers on a postcard please.

1st April 2007
I went to see Wolves 0-6 thrashing by Southampton yesterday.  I didn't think it was a good result, and it set me thinking about Wolves' past record against Southampton.  This was the fifth time I'd seen the two teams meet, and it's never been a happy story; the highlight being a dour 0-0 on the opening day of last season at St Mary's.  I have seen Wolves put a total of one goal past Southampton, in a poor 1-4 defeat at home in the premiership season.  Both of these results were unusual, in that 2-0 defeats have been a much more consistent theme in recent years.

Looking further back, however, the last time Southampton put six past Wolves, again at Molineux, was in the 1976/77 season in the old second division.  In this case, Wolves went on get promoted (as champions).  A good omen, after all.

9th March 2007
It's been a busy few weeks for me, with celebrity interviews (ok, practice ones in my room) almost every day.  But I have taken some time out to chill and listen to some of my favourite music.  I came across this new song from Josh Ritter on YouTube.  Give it a listen - he comes thoroughly recommended by a small fluffy Wolfie, and you can't get much better than that.  Nailed down genius.

25th February 2007
While I was at Molineux yesterday (see my write up of the Leeds game in the Football section, I was saddened to hear of the possible demise of 'A Load of Bull'.  Here you can see me pictured reading my pre-match copy.  Perhaps I will write to them to offer them journalistic advice.  I am sure the the support of a celebrity such as myself would mean a great deal.  Seriously though, it would be a shame to see it go under, so if you haven't bought a copy before (and maybe even if you have!) give it a go, or check out their subscription information on their website.

18th February 2007
I've just updated 'My Travels' with dwolfie prepares to set the piste aflameetails of my latest skiing jaunt.  Here you can see a sneak preview of me all kitted out in the latest high-performance gear and really looking pretty cool.  The only disappointment was the tiny mistake I made in buying my kit on ebay - they really should state if they mean Wolfie sizes or not, because it can be confusing.

13th February 2007
It's been a while.  I've been away skiing and on tour recently, so expect some fine pictures in 'My Travels' in the next few days, but in the meantime, here's a lovely video I produced with Wendy (in is Valentine's day tomorrow afterall).  Like many celebrities, I have ambitions above my abilities to move into the music industry.  I hope you'll support me in this.

It is with dry eyes, but maybe a little regret for the past, that Wolves bid goodbye to Leon Clarke (pictured right), who moves to Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee having been transfer listed by the club earlier in the week.  His latent talent has been recognised and trumpeted by successive managers, but has ever really been apparent on the field of play, even taking account a brief spell early in the season where Leon successfully found the back of the net several times.

So, it's goodbye to Leon, who has had an ambivalent at best relationship Old Goldenbootswith the fans, and let's hope he can make a better impression on his new team.  As befits a scorer of no less than five goals, and indeed our top goalscorer this season (although centre half Craddock, who has been out for several games now is biting at his heels with four goals), I leave you with an image of those much heralded Golden Boots.  In fact, as a tip, wearing some nice ordinary black boots until people know that you know what to do with them might be the best way to get off to a good start in pastures new.

3rd January 2007
Another year, another blog entry.  I've updated the football page with the latest results and some pictures of my recent visit to Colchester, for your enjoyment.  So, enjoy!

30th December 2006
Merry Christmas one and all.  I hope you all had a lovely time.  I overindulged slightly myself on the sherry and quality street, but am now fit and well again and off to Colchester today.

27th December 2006
I am disappointed to report that follow negotiations Sir Jack still has some reservations about the ability of my top secret consortium to raise all the capital upfront required to buy Wolves, but as you will have seen in the news, he retains hope that all may come out well.

21st November 2006
I see that Sir Jack Hayward is making a further push to sell Wolves.  It also seems that the Christmas sales have come early, and at half price, this seems like a bit of a bargain.  So (and you read it here first), I have entered into negotiations with the club as the head of a top secret consortium bid.  So secret, in fact, that even I don't know yet who will be involved.  I'm pleased to report although I'm not strictly a local, Sir Jack welcomes my interest as I am a devoted fan, and at least I don't eat garlic.  We have however agreed that the finer points of the deal need to be ironed out before we can go public with the news.  So, I'm in with a pound, Wendy has also set aside a pound, and we're currently looking for other prospective consortium members (no unscrupulous foreigners or bad sorts, please) to register their interest so we can make up the remaining £19,999,998.  All enquiries please to me via the official channels.  I'll keep you updated, and am confident that the club will be in new hands in time for the January transfer window.

7th November 2006
We are told by Wolves' esteemed Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, that due to low attendances this season, transfer budgets for January are likely to be severely reduced (read the full story in the Express and Star).  Moxey is partly right when he suggests that this slump is about disappointment in the budget that has been available for the team.  This plays a part, but is a financial reality and maybe we need to live with that, but perhaps the Club need to start looking beyond what they can't do and at what they can.  Charging up to £30 a ticket and even expecting £10 per supporter for the privilege of booking online, instead of using it as a system to encourage sales like every other business in the world, hardly encourages the more casual supporter, who Wolves have to rely on to fill the ground every Saturday.  I despair.

25th October 2006
I try to be likeable, and certainly people have mentioned that I have some charisma.  I like to make friends wherever I go, and here are some pictures of me with Jack and Ted, who have moved in with me (lodgers).  We don't agree on everything (for example, they don't think Lee Naylor was any good and do think pebble-dashing is the height of chic), but it's good to be able to spend some time with the lads, as well as with my Wendy.

Here I am with Jack and Ted... We've become close over time... Possibly this was a bit too close, though!

wolfie finds lurve

20th October 2006
Strange and wonderful times.  I've found a lady love!  So, as you'll see from the picture, she's a little scary looking, she's not good with the eye makeup and sometimes I get nightmares about that bow, but Wendy and I are very happy.  Also, you will see that it helps that she's been persuaded to part with her shiny new shirt, which makes me look extra handsome.  No rows so far, I'm pleased to report.

19th October 2006
wolfie's noseHello again all.  It's been a long time and I've so much to tell you.  I've now updated the football page with some pictures of me at Molineux, and I hope you enjoy this arty picture of my shapely nose. And for all you loyal fans, here's a video clip of me enjoying some fine music in my car (click here)

20th September 2006
I'm back!  I'm so sorry to my fans that I have left you alone for so long.  Rest assured, I haven't forgotten you, and I'm following the Wolves as avidly as ever.  In fact, I'll be at Molineux for the Stoke game on Saturday, so check back for some high quality reportage and piccies. .  I'm currently embroiled in some heavy-duty DIY, so I'll make sure I get you some pics asap.

Wolfie and the goat24th August 2006
I've had a lot of letters from my fans asking if I am unwell and why the website has not been updated for a while.  Thank you all for your concern, and I am pleased to report that my health has never been better.  I have been very busy lately advising Mick McCarthy, and I have also taking a little break to make some new friends (one of whom is pictured here).  Now I'm back, and raring to go.  Check out 'My Travels' for a few of my latest holiday snaps.

6th August 2006
Thank you so much for all your birthday good wishes to me.  It means the world to me and I love you all!  Mwah!

Wolfie's new shirt (with Dave the tomato plant)5th August 2006
It's a very big day for me today.  It's the first day of the football season.  Plymouth vs. Wolves.  AND it's my birthday!  And I've got a lovely new shirt (story to follow), as you can see in this recently released publicity shot of me.  Don't I look chic!  To clear up one point, rumour seems to have got out about it being my birthday, and a few people have written to me to ask if I mind them sending presents, good wishes etc.  I would like to say that I do understand how much it can mean to be able to send even a small token of appreciation to one you admire, so please, don't feel worried if you do want to send me anything to mark the day.

As to the football, unfortunately other commitments mean I can't be there today, but I will be keeping an eye on the score and will post my thoughts for you later.  Remember that you can keep up to date with all my thoughts on the 'Football' page.  I hope to be able to get to a game very soon and bring you a first hand report.  Come on you Wolves!

31st July 2006
I've updated the football page with the latest on Wolves' pre-season.  Check it out.

29th July 2006
I'm sure you'll all join with me in wishing a wonderful birthday to Chris, one of my earliest and, so I hear, biggest fans.

Wolfie wishes a happy birthday to one of his dear fans

24th July 2006Wolfie's tribute to McCarthy
I have previously expressed my great admiration for the club's greatest merchandising item - the "Dave Jones Scarf" (pictured left).  I firmly believe that a serious mistake was dave jones scarfmade in not producing a similar Glen Hoddle item.  As the club enters a new era, there is no better time to atone for this error.  I have used my own modest talents to give you an idea of what a fine and desirable item the "Mick McCarthy Scarf" really would be, and on the right you can see my own humble tribute to the new man at the top.  I think this should be enough to convince anyone that this gem would be a surefire hit with the fans, and I will try to write to the club in the next few days to bring this matter to their attention.

23rd July 2006
Mick McCarthy has been appointed the new Wolves manager, and I know that before you make up your mind, you're all burning to hear my pronouncements on the issue.  On the whole, I must say, I'm delighted.  Bearing in mind his experiences at Sunderland, he has just the record Wolves need; for playing to the strengths of his squad and gaining promotion without a massive budget to play with.  The contrast in personal style (and I don't just mean dress sense) with Hoddle will be massive, and, I think, a change for the better.  Again considering his record at Sunderland, however, perhaps we'll want to reconsider the position if we do get promoted.  McCarthy will have as good a shot as anyone at gaining promotion, possibly not this year, looking at the rather lean squad, then maybe the next.  Although the number 8, 10 and 11 shirts are still available in the squad, and, with a few judicious signings, everything might look very different in a couple of weeks time.

In some ways I would like to see Paul Ince get the job, as he could have done a great job motivating the players (although potentially arguing with a lot of them too) and would have the passion to go out to win games.  But at this stage it would have been too big a risk.  We simply don't know enough.  He may go elsewhere and prove to have everything it takes to make a great manager.  But there's a equal chance he won't.  I'd like to see him given a coaching job at the club, though, to learn more about that side of the game, and then who knows what will happen in the future...

Finally, and perhaps the biggest question of all: Will Mick McCarthy agree to have his likeness knitted into a scarf?  Perhaps I should write to the club, or maybe to the man himself, to make them aware how important that would be.

Wolfie plays bongos11th July 2006
Recently, in the gaps in my 'thinking time' (where I explore the philosophical truth of the universe and who the next Wolves manager will be) I've been learning a new skill!  What, you ask me?  Well, I've been learning to bongo on my Nintendo GameCube and bongos.  It really is great fun, and as Wolfies are naturally in tune with the rhythm of life, I really excelled.  Here's a picture of me enjoying my new favourite sport.  It's much more fun playing against other people, but my friend Misha penguin has no rhythm at all.  He blames losing on having flippers instead of paws, but I know it's because I'm an Exceptionally Talented Wolfie, and he isn't.

8th July 2006
Hello everyone.  I'm currently mulling over whether I should put in a formal application for the Wolves manager job.  My lack of experience will work against me, but on the plus side, I like to think of myself as a very shrewd tactician.  I'm very good at playing Championship Manager, and am even thinking I might be able to save on scouting costs with my fantastic knowledge of the skills of players in the game.  I would also be prepared to have a scarf with my face knitted into it, and all sorts of other tacky merchandise.

1st July 2006
STOP PRESS.  Glen Hoddle has resigned.  Wasn't expecting that at all at this stage.  It seems like he's as frustrated as everyone else by the lack of ambition at the club, but time will tell if he's just got something better in mind.  It's not a good time to be looking for a new manager so unexpectedly, but could work out for the best in the long run.  Is there any possibility that Hoddle leaving has anything to do with the failure of the club to produce a scarf with his face knitted in it (see Dave Jones, below)?  Whatever the case, this is definitely a chance missed.

wolfie tries out a new shirt for size1st July 2006
I've got a new Wolves home shirt.  Could my quest be over?  No, it seems.  It's a bit too big.  I think I look vaguely ridiculous.  But then again, I'm not sure that the players won't too, wearing that.

24th June 2006
I have been pondering in my mind what my options are for getting a home shirt in my size, as the club have told me that one will not be available.  I wonder if the equal opportunities route has been fully explored.  Could I appeal to the European Court of Human Rights?  Does this legislation apply to Wolfies?  I am very unsure.  My shirt is getting grottier every day.

22nd June 2006
The Championship fixtures for the 2006/07 season are out!  Wolves will start with an away trip to Plymouth.  Due to a truly weird copyright on the fixtures, my lips will remain sealed beyond that, but you can see the fixtures on the official Wolves site.  See you at Plymouth!

21st June 2006
Well, I've heard back from Wolves already regarding my shirt request (see below).  I must complement them on their speedy response to what must have been an unusual request.  Unfortunately, I am heartbroken to report that they have proved unable to supply a shirt to meet my needs.  They also inform me that Wolfies will be available to purchase through the club shop again next season.  Ominously, they specifically report that these Wolfies will be wearing the new home shirt.  I am highly alarmed that this might suggest tacit approval for the stripping naked and discarding for shirt scenario, which I, of course, cannot have any part in (I am not countenancing the possibility that they're suggesting I might be replaceable).  This is a very disappointing setback, but my quest for a new shirt continues.  I'll let you know when I have decided what I should do. The text of their reply is below:

"Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately we are unable to get the a new shirt for you.
We will be selling new Wolfies in the home shirt for the start of the
new season.
Regards..."

20th June 2006Wolfie's old shirt
Well, the new Wolves home shirt has arrived.  See the official Wolves site for a picture.  I really need a new shirt but I don't know how to get one in my size.  You can see from the picture here that my own shirt isn't in the best condition.  I could do my own, but I'm no good at needlework due to the tendency of the needle to stick into me.  I am also concerned that reproducing the shirt might be illegal.  I have therefore decided to write to the club to see how they can help me.  I thought you might be interested, so I've put a copy of my letter underneath.  I'll let you know how it goes.

"Dear Wolves,
I am writing to you about the new home shirt.  I have a problem.  I currently have the old home shirt (and wear it all the time) but it is getting into very bad condition (you can read about this on my website www.worldwidewolfie.co.uk).  I really need a new one.  I thought I didn't like the new one, but seeing Lee Naylor wearing it, now I do.  I would also like the new one as I think it would give me greater credibility when I go to matches (I think that without a new shirt, people will laugh at me).  Looking at the club shop online, however, I notice that you are not producing them in Wolfie sizes (my chest is 7 1/2 inches across).  I am happy to pay, but it seems that I cannot get a shirt in my size, not even for ready money.  I am concerned about the copyright infringement were I to produce my own.  I don't know if you will be producing Wolfies next year, but I'm sure you'll understand that it would not be appropriate for me to got one, strip him naked and discard him, just so I could get a shirt. You see my dilemma.  As a massive fan of the club, I am disappointed not to be able to get the shirt in my size (could this be an equal opportunities issue?).  Can you help me?  I eagerly await your response.
Yours faithfully,
Wolfie (WorldWide)"

wolfie playing pool

17th June 2006
I'm on holiday at the moment on the Norfolk Broads, letting my fir down a bit.  You can see pictures in the 'My Travels' section, but here's a picture of me enjoying a game of pool.  I turned out not to be very good (and I had to stand on a high chair, which was a little demeaning), but I'm very much accustomed to underachievement in the sporting arena so I still enjoyed myself.

16th June 2006
I like to look at Boothby Graffoe's website on the internet.  He's a comedian, and I've heard he's also funny live.  He's written a World Cup song and it's fantastic.  Listen to it it on his website.  Go on, go on, go on.  Some Lakeland sheep have also recorded their own song and video, of which I very much approve.  Check out the World Cup Sheep.

12th June 2006
Just to let you know, I've done some updates over the last few days.  My views on the football can be found in the 'Football' section, and I've added some new photos to the 'My Travels' section as well as a hilarious outtakes sub-page there.

9th June 2006
World Cup Kicks off today.  I'm all aquiver and my hair keeps standing on end.

3rd June 2006
Very sad, but not surprised, to hear that Joleon Lescott is off to Everton next season.  I wish him all the best there and Wolfie gets his top offam sure he'll be a great success.  I hope that we'll be able to find a good replacement, either from within the club or a new signing.  Bearing in mind Wolves' perennial difficulties with landing their targets (which I'm sure has nothing to do with unrealistic financial expectations) I thought I should do my bit to promote the club as 'the place to be'.  So, I've had this photo specially commissioned.  Hopefully it will make some footballers - or maybe some footballers' wives ;) - think seriously of the club as a great destination.  I hope you enjoy the picture too, but I don't want to see it reproduced on any dodgy sites.

1st June 2006Dave Jones scarf
Going through my few possessions the other day I came across an old scarf of mine, which I thought I'd share with you.  I hope you enjoy the image of Dave Jones, knitted into this fashionable accessory.  Obviously it's a bit big for me, but I do like to look at it, and maybe chuckle just a little.  I was very disappointed that Glen Hoddle never sat for his portrait in wool.  I wonder whether oversight may have been part of the problem with last year.  Then again, I think there might have been more to to than that.

25th May 2006
Is this the new Wolves shirt. Yuk.
I like to browse the internet sometimes, and sometimes browse ebay to see if I can pick up any bargains.   Although I can't work as I don't have any bones or muscles and therefore don't have any money, I like to look still.  The other day I came across someone selling what they say is the new home shirt.  I've put a picture of it on the left for you.  If that is it, I won't be writing to the club about getting a Wolfie sized one after all. Yuk!

14th May 2006:
I'm beginning to think about the fact that Wolves will be getting a new home shirt.  As you may have noticed, I have the old shirt (although the Chaucer logo fell off, just like the real thing!).  I'm beginning to worry whether they might not bring out a new shirt in my size.  I may write to the club.  I'll let you know if I do that.
